A Weeks End: Lipa
ITLog No.5
(30 April – 1 May 2011)

After a long week of work we were scheduled to go to Lipa, Batangas and attend the Lomi Festval on April 30, 2011 (being the Lomi Capital of the Philippines). Leaving Manila by bus at 1200hrs, we arrived at Lipa and headed for Summer Hills in J.P. Laurel Highway, Lipa City, where our group were ask to judge the Lomi Festival.

Arriving at the activity area we walk around and saw all those Lomi and other food like barbeque, halo-halo, cuchinta, etc, and there was also a bingo game going on. While carol, cathy and dave judged the event I went around and took some photos on how they make Lomi and even tasted is (due to this, I would not like to eat any Lomi for maybe the next few moths)

After the judging and awarding of prizes, we headed for Cintai Corito’s Garden in Balete, Batangas (just minutes away from Lipa City). This place is a Balinese-inspired sanctuary where I was awed by the place and even by the wooden gate that they have. Like their web site say, “Get ready to be mesmerized by Cintai Corito’s Garden”.

With the sun setting we headed home and dave suggested we have a drink to flash out all the Lomi we just ate, after drinking and a lot of crazy stories we retired our selves to sleep.

Waking up late (because of laziness or the alcohol), we ate breakfast of rice with pork tocino and eggs and had a wonderful hot choco drink prepared by cathy. We were picked up by our ride and headed to Club Victorina, Base View Subdivision in Banay Banay to attend the reunion of the Maralit clan. Meeting the relatives of carol for the first time made me feel awkward because I did not know anybody there. After eating lunch we headed for Capuchin Retreat Center and visited my brother who is a capuchin brother (we visited this place some time ago), where they had a play that afternoon but since we had to get back to Manila, we just talked and ate some home-made ice cream (which was with cheese and langka) and after saying goodbyes to the brothers and fathers we headed back to town and bought bibinka to take home. Being dropped off the bus station, we rode the bus heading back to Manila and was scheduled to meet somebody but did not push thru, thus leaving us with time to laze and rest for the day
